Diddy is the King of New York

I promised myself that I would not watch I Want to Work for Diddy. Hoping to watch a rerun of New York Goes to Hollywood, I turned to VH1 and there it was - a new episode of I Want to Work for Diddy. So, I left the dial on VH1 and continued to watch this Apprentice knock off.

Here we are, in the second episode of I Want to Work for Diddy, and the cast still hasn't met Mr. Combs. This is really annoying me. At least in The Apprentice, the job seekers meet their future boss in the first episode! About 100 former assistants of Diddy's are interviewed, and the cast only associates with Bad Boy's director of marketing, also a former Diddy assistant.

What drew me into I Want to Work for Diddy is Laverne. Laverne is the tall, African American, transgendered lady. Now, don't get me wrong. I have absolutely nothing against transgenders. One of my closet friends is a beautiful transgendered gal, and I love her to death. But, in this second episode of I Want to Work for Diddy, Laverne is sill talking about her gender, or, I should say, her gender change. I know this has to do a lot with strategic editing, but we get it. We know you use to be a man! I’m not sure why she was cast on the show, but boy, that chick can dance! Did you see her split? I'm not sure what’s going on between her legs, but ouch!

Also, in the beginning of episode two, we find out that Rob is gay. He nonchalantly mentions where his boyfriend lives, and some of the girls are like "Aww. I knew it!" (No you didn't chick. Sit down, and be quiet.) What thickens this plot is that Rob's background includes a stint in the military! He's even been to Iraq! Talk about "Don't ask, don't tell," huh?

The cast is given their second mission: No Bitchassness Allowed. Yes, the word bitchassness just won't go away. The Uptown and Downtown teams are dropped off in a forest, and they have to navigate their way to three checkpoints with a map and a compass. The first team to reach all checkpoints first, wins.

As soon as the teams hit the great outdoors, big girl Kim "Proprah," from the Uptown team, starts coughing like it's nobody's business. She said it had to do with something about asthma and excessive amounts of pollen and blah, blah, blah. Whatever. Big girl couldn't handle it, and she got herself out of the mission. She claims to be the strongest on the team, but her attitude and negative comments about her teammates, make her the weakest. If you can't tell, I am not a Kim fan.

In the end, the Uptown team looses a mission for a second time, and Kim is up for elimination again along with Rob. The three decision makers on who goes home, Bad Boy's director of marketing, Diddy's former manager and one of Diddy's mentors, ultimately send Rob home. Poprah gets another chance, again. Lucky for her, reality shows are all about ratings, and her big personality is going to keep her in the house and viewers tuned into I Want to Work for Diddy.

Finally, it's time for New York Goes to Hollywood. In the second episode of this new series, Tiffany "New York" Pollard meets with a talent manager. He immediately compares her to Queen Latifah… Huh? If New York's head wasn't already big enough, this bastard had to swell her head even more with a lie. I am one of the biggest New York fans, but I don't like lying to people. New York has a long way to go before she can be compared to the talents of the Queen.

After the meet and greet with the talent manager, New York goes to her first acting audition. Apparently, the script has too many big words for New York, and she chokes. Instead of being strong, New York becomes the New York that we are more use to, and she starts crying to the casting director. The casting director doesn't fall for it, and New York is off to her second audition.

Why does New York end up touching the casting director during her second audition?!?!? Luckily, she's given a second chance, and we find out that New York can actually take direction. She does a decent job.

Next on the agenda: Acting classes. The "reality" show Gods have Kelly show up again. Kelly was at auditions number one and two. What a co-ink-e-dink, right? Of course, Kelly and New York end up calling each other bit*hes, and viewers get another great dose of New York drama.

New York makes another friend at her acting class. His name is Vos, and he is her partner for her first acting exercise. Vos is tall, dark and handsome, and I’m sure he'll end up in more episodes.

I can't wait to see what our favorite VH1 Drama Queen has installed for us next week on New York Goes to Hollywood.

That was cool Nancy. I enjoyed reading it. I don't have the stomach to sit through those two shows but still curious about what's going on. Keep them coming!

I love all things pop culture. I care about everything from who's pregnant with who's baby, to who's the latest teen celebrity (rich brat) to get arrested. My professional background includes PR, which probably explains my need to be in the know about as much as possible when it comes to current events, celebrity gossip and who's doing what on reality shows.
